T minus 2 hours... and packing

I came into work today -- don't ask me why.   I didn't post over the weekend - I was too freaking tired to type.

Let me sum up that last push to the finish line...

Friday, up early, worked until 2 PM,  dropped off Carpool buddy, ran back to the surgeon's office, picked up paperwork, headed back up north, went to the dollar story so my hubby can complete his sister's box-within-a-box X10 gift, plus I was out of bows, I found some cookie containers and then hit McDonalds for a coffee, then to the nail salon for new pretty Christmas nails, then I popped over to Wal-ly World and got a gift for the nephew on Bubba's side of the family, some stuff to complete cookies and the like... then headed home.

Left work at 2 PM - pulled into the driveway at 5:30 PM.

Walked the dog, came inside, we did something for dinner, I made 2 kinds of cookies,   Oh - yeah and dipped the two different kinds of biscotti cookies, one in white chocolate and one in regular chocolate.

Saturday the alarm went off at 6:30 AM - I rolled out of bed at 7:15, got up, got showered, tended to the dog, and Bubba and I, in separate cars headed to the big mall at the bottom of the major highway.  Why?  Because they have the West Coast Candy store we needed, and the cool coffee place also for Granny, and my office mate.  He found this place on his travels - wouldn't buy it for himself -- perfect gift!

We tried to finish shopping there but couldn't find all we needed, so Bubba headed back North, I headed to my meeting with the Ladies' group, got that done, started to make my way back North as well, stopped off at a ladies home, dropped off her package, made my way to the liquor store for nog makings, then called Bubba, where are you did you get the gift --- his comment was not yet - he had gotten a massage first.

Insert dead silence here....

Um - OK fine butthead -- I'm off to finish my list you do yours.  We ended up at the same mall, met up, finished shopping (independently) then decided to go have some lunch.   Went to place A -- parking lot was a zoo, decided on place B -- we're such the yuppie couple, on our car wired blue tooth phones, making lunch plans.  Ended up at a place had Chinese food, not bad, I headed to the grocery store, got gift cards, then headed home.   Made batter for the gingerbread, and iced all remaining cookies that required it, got work packages all done up, and  I got those all boxed up for work people and those containers into a larger box for transport to the car and into the office...

I do believe I fell into bed and died that night...

Sunday, lather, rinse, repeat.   We went out to breakfast, quick dollar store run for Egg Nog containers (which turned out to be complete CRAP!) then the grocery store for the nog makings; I got dropped off, Bubba went out to do something -- then he was going to watch football at the bar.  I went home booted up the computer and listened to the first half of the game while making gingerbread house pieces, icing for said houses, pulling all the necessary stuff for decorating, and then made egg nog, finally got that right, was down to the nog bowls in the cleaning process, Bubba called said he had a table at the bar, so I said screw it -- and went to the bar enjoyed the second half of the football game and about 7 chicken wings.  I was hungry apparently.  I came home, finished cleaning up the kitchen put cookies in my car, because Bubba bitched about not having a place to sit in the living room upstairs... like he ever sits up there --- but it was done and one less thing I had to content with at 5:50 AM Monday morning.

I fed him dinner of whatever fundraiser pizza things I ordered, and life wasn't bad.  I was done, all the wrapping was finished Saturday night, by Sunday night it was all done - but the logistics of getting all this crap into my poor car.   That is a fight for today.

I am leaving work in about an hour, driving home cramming all these goodies into my car, listening to my husband whine and complain about the volume and the cost - and then we fight our way home --- dinner is out tonight - our favorite Italian place - there will be wine involved.

I don't know what the rest of the week hold for us, but it's Christmas I'm trying to hold on to those good feelings and smile my way through all the stupid...

Stay well, safe and warm - and in case of DC dry... sheesh.  We shall return to the airwaves some time this weekend if we have time - if not Sunday for the annual Christmas wrap up.  OR later in the week when I sober up.

Merry Christmas
Aunt Ing

Check one -- Add two...

Welcome to my to-do list, I get one thing checked off, I have to add two more.

Yesterday was a good day, left work at 1:00 PM, and got to go out to lunch, with wine, on someone else.  It was nice.  Carpool Buddy got to drive home, we did not have a two hour commute from hell, nice and easy one hour door to door.

When I got home, I hit the quick and cheap grocery store for what I thought was final cookies supplies... came home, loved and walked the dog, made dinner, including REAL mashed potatoes, went back out met a Girl's Group Dad and got rid of the last of the cookie orders, and made another quick trip to the store (I was running low on flour) came home, made 3 different kinds of cookies, baked two of them, the new one Bubba liked... which means I have to make another batch of those...

Today, Friday, of what has been the longest week in a very long time, found me at the doctor's office an hour early... luckily she arrived and I got saw, fussed at for not massaging 3 times per day instead of my usual one to two -- hey I'm busy and I work with men, who don't need to see me rubbing my boob.  ANY way... that done, back to work, found out my division has taken a pay cut, and now I have a resume to update -- you know just in case.

So leaving a bit early from work, stopping off at the doctor's office to pick up some paperwork, then dropping off Carpool Buddy, then to Trader Joe's for more supplies, then Wally-world for a video game gift (best price) then to my nail appointment.... then home, left overs for dinner, more cookies and getting things organized for the trip home, and office mate gifts and all the rest!

I'm tired.  But I have the buy 4 get one free card from McDonalds so Aunt Ing will be hitting that coffee bar hard and fast.  Caffeinated beverages are your friend this time of year - and for me they are a life line.

Bubba didn't say much about anything last night, he's started with his list of stuff that has to be dealt with -- that is so far down my life of stuff to get done I could not care less... that will hit my radar about Tuesday afternoon.

The office is dead today and next week will be even worse... week between Christmas and New Years is even deader... but then I will have time to make my New Year's Day dinner plans, and shopping and cleaning and ....how to sedate Bubba until everyone arrives and can distract him that there is dog hair in my house and the kitchen floor isn't spotless... eat off the dishes -- they're clean.

Did I mention I did dishes and ran the dishwasher before I left the house this morning -- at 5:50 AM!

So coming back as Bubba in my next life, how nice it must be to always be right, and never had to do anything but go to work...

T- 30 until today's sprint to dead on my pillow... anyone  placing bets on 11 PM tonight.

Did I mention getting to the mall at 8 AM, and a 10 AM Ladies group thing?  Yeah.

Sleep is over rated.

Yes, I did accomplish something yesterday....

Yesterday was Wednesday -- an ordinary day by any stretch of the imagination -- up early, off to work with Carpool buddy, usual work foolishness, got into the car at 3:30 PM to have our usual drive home....  2 TWO -- HOURS later... I was dropped off at my car...

After several phone calls, first to darling Bubba telling him he was going to have to get home and tend to our puppy... then to my hair dresser to tell her I was going to be late, I got into my car... zipped between red lights, and ran into my salon, relieved when she said, "No worries, we got this -- go put on a smock"

I did, it was good, that "other" color is gone, my hair is brown again, neatly trimmed, as it was getting a bit wild, and it's all good, if not a little poofy from how she dried my hair.. no big deal I was going to sleep on it anyway...

Since I arrived 30 minutes late, I was done later than I planned, and knowing that darling Bubba was home without an ability to feed himself, or as he always tells me "have a snack" I got Hangry Bubba (hungry + angry= Hangry) .... So, I bagged my planned trip to the dollar store, I'm out of bows and I need some cheap paper... ANY way.. I call Captain Crankypants, I tell him I will be home in 5 minutes and here is what is for dinner.

I get home, change my clothes, get dinner started, I really wasn't cooking (Chicken salads with garlic bread) but it was food - here.  While I was prepping dinner, my darling husband of 25 years came up to the kitchen and began to express his opinion of my hair... let's got with the highlights... "Are you evening trying to grow it out", "what crap, layering you're lying to me -- again.  You can't ever tell me the right story", "she had to take 3 inches off the back*"  *I didn't have three inches of hair back there...   and the final uplifting message?  "It sucks"

Yes, boys and girls, he went nuts over a small trim and poofy do... so I stopped talking to him for the rest of night, I ate my dinner, loved my dog, got all my gifts wrapped and labeled, with the exception of those I have yet to purchase...

I will say Bubba tried several times to engage me in conversation, he got "Bubba-like" monosyllabic answers -- when I was done, I cleaned up my mess and let the dog out and went to bed.

I did accomplish a great deal yesterday, gifts wrapped, dinner made, kitchen cleaned up, puppy loved, and husband not murdered... frankly I think that last one is the one that required the most energy.

Today, if the traffic gods are willing I will get home at the usual time (one hour door to door) and get some running done, like the dollar store, Wally-world and maybe even the grocery store because I'm not real sure what dinner his royal pain in the nether regions is going to get -- and the optional  ingredient in his dinner that will allow for quality bathroom reading time  -- is still on the table.

Tomorrow I go pick up paperwork from the doctor for my January 6th port removal.  I need to schedule a nail appointment, go to the mall and finish my shopping, finish cookies, and wrap the newly purchased gifts...

Bubba will be doing what he does best, bitch, whine, and grump because his priorities are not mine... again.

Ho, Ho, Ho... I plan to drink later -- at his Mama's.  :-)

Detailing the details...

As I mentioned in previous posts, life around here is a little busy.. it's the week before Christmas and unlike me I'm not done shopping and I still have cookies to bake, and things to finish.. along with the usual day to day living and work and tending to the laziest white man in America.

Let's start with Monday...

Up early, met Car Pool Buddy, drive to work, work a full day,

home, let the dog out, unload a basket of clean clothes, refill it with dirty clothes

start the laundry,  walk the dog,

write up the last of the Christmas cards, stamp them,

load the dog into the truck,

zip to the post office and mail the cards and a letter,

go back to the lodge, meet up with big cookie order guy,

he gets his stuff, close up the lodge,

go home, unload the dishwasher, make dinner

wash dishes, think about tossing a cookie batter together, forget that idea

Feed Bubba, putz on the computer for 30 minutes, change laundry loads,

let the dog, out, put my daily dose of vitamins in their container along with some breakfast for Tuesday,   do my nightly routine, read one page of my book, fall asleep dead the world until...

4:35 AM this morning... got moving at 4:45 AM

Up, moving showered, dog out/ in fed, I had time post hair and make up routine to fold the two loads of laundry I did last night - plus they wouldn't look like we slept in them and since I had 10 minutes...

So, two folded loads of laundry, another in the dryer, (undies they can wrinkle)

Gave the dog her morning meds and love, tossed what I needed in my bag and headed out to the lodge.

Had to scrape my windshield... not happy there.

Got to the lodge, loaded up the cookie orders for the work people, tossed that in the back of the truck

Headed out to meet Car Pool Buddy (CPB) -- waited for him -- wishing for caffeinated beverage,

Drove to work, listened as CPB detailed his equally busy night, thinking of a new house,

Got to work, unloaded the work bag, headed back out to the car to get cookie orders

rebooted my computer... finally got logged on...

I made a list of people I still need Christmas presents for, found out the mall isn't open late tonight,

Made plans for my dinner out, with a swing by the bank for the Ladies' group deposit,

a trip to the grocery story for Bob's drugs, and a spice for a cookie

home, walk the dog, and then head out to dinner...

Stay tuned for more updates because if I don't have some kind of outlet for all of this... Bubba will be walking funny at Christmas because I will have beaten him... then he'll have an excuse for sitting on his backside.

He did manage to order a niece's gift Sunday night.. after I handed him the coupon, showed him the code to use and handed him my store credit card.

thanks honey!  I'd never get this done without your assistance!

Off to make another list... it helps - don't judge.

Two weeks later and not much has changed...

I just saw my rant dated 12/1.... I had another one all queued up and ready to go... same topic - two weeks later.

In the intervening two week's time, I have baked, cleaned, done laundry, did dishes, worked a full time job with a commute, attended the company Christmas get together, with a nearly 2 hour drive home, attended a meeting, assisted with a dinner, and dealt with the Girl's group cookie orders... NOT to mention, walking the dog and ensuring she is fed, pilled and generally tended to...

Oh yeah, and hosted a sleep over for 9 girls and one adult, including shopping cookies, icing for said cookies and general house pick up...

Bubba has, gone to work, bitched about my time at the lodge, and went to Ohio to see a hockey game.

Did I mention the gift wrapping and ordering (on line)???

Did I also mention the broken nail at 5:55 AM this morning even because Butt head couldn't put my Easy pass toll hicky-thing back where he got it (in my car)???  And I need it for MY morning commute???  So I had to dig out my key to his car, and dig around his car to where he stashed the damn thing.

No Aunt Ing was  NOT!  a happy woman this morning.

We are now into the week before Christmas -- to say life is busy  -- let's just go with bears and woods and what come naturally... or Shelby on a walk... equal pile of 'stuff'.

Now all my meetings for the year are done -- but I do have a dinner out Tuesday, a hair appointment on Wednesday, 4 more kinds of cookies to make, and gifts to wrap, cookies to parse out to co-workers and have I mentioned the Egg Nog???  I will be chugging that stuff by the time I get around to making it!!!

There is something wrong with me.  I took Sunday night off - sort of.  I made pizza for dinner, and I managed to wrap 4 gifts.  Yeah me.  Bubba sat on his ass and did a whole lot of nothing, he napped after his busy weekend away of dining and hockey.

I have to find time to go to a mall and pick up some stuff, a trip to Wally world for a video game, Bubba heaven help me is researching a toy for the niece...  My book of lists - have lists.  I will sleep -- later.

I will say, the Girl's group sleep over went over without a hitch!  I got to see Frozen -- cute Disney movie cannot get what ALL the fuss is about - but hey.

Today at work is the pot luck to-do -- we have to share with the big wigs upstairs -- because we're here in our new non-nondescript office building in Northern VA, instead of there in our previous non-nondescript office building in Northern VA.  I was going to just do jarred dip and chips but bagged the whole Costco on Saturday idea with the extra 40 minutes driving to and from in favor of adding to my current shopping list of 4 items at the local store, bringing the grand total to 8 and got the heck home.   So, yes, in typical me fashion I over achieved on the pot luck and brought my usual Buffalo Chicken dip.   Knowing full well I will have to make it again for New Years for the 'nephew".  Frankly it's not that freaking hard... the dog loves when I shred chicken..

All right -- off enjoy the peaceful part of my day... working for a living.

And did I mention the Christmas cards??!??  No he didn't sign a one either.

Whatever...

Need a vent - we'll get to Thanksgiving later

*cracking knuckles... get ready boys and girls.

Sunday - Sunday -- Sunday... we left Nana's early.  Of course for Captain Crankypants -- we left too late -- exactly 30 minutes later than he wanted to.  We hit no traffic.  We were home in 3.5 hours.  hush up already Bubba...

We get home, we unload the car, tend to the dog, get things organized... then ONE of us, loads up the laundry, changes the towels in the bathrooms, begins to pull out the Christmas stuff, and proceeds to place said Christmas stuff about house and home to make it looks like people live there - and at least can pretend to have some Christmas spirit.

WE then go to a place, have lunch, get indigestion watching stupid Steelers football, decide this isn't worth the effort, and head home where... ONE of us continues with said Christmas decorating, laundry and even IRONING the Christmas table cloth - well because it looked like Shelby slept on it without all the dog hair...

I, also, tended to the Ladies' group deposit - the big one after our major dinner, created and printed our holiday return address labels pulled out the Christmas/ holiday cards, finished the laundry with the exception of the load of undies I left in the dryer...

Bubba watched football, had a nap, and then went to the lodge for a show around appointment.

I'm not sure who has it easier, my dog or my husband -- the jury is still out.

Our second rant today -- my in-laws.  Apparently they thought we were meeting for dinner Friday - I said we'd call and check in -- I stupidly didn't remind Bubba - we didn't call - I'm sure we are in the dog house again.  The funnier thing they call our HOME number - they didn't try either cell that day just home, message and done.  If it were me, I'd try all the numbers and ask questions etc.

That entire situation is a nightmare and I want no parts in it.  My big fear is something major is going to happen and no one will call us - or we'll get a call when it's really hit the fan and there isn't much we can do other than grab a mop.  Bubba will be asleep in the lazy-boy.

I'm off to add to my little book of lists... there is a lot to do, and moving that lump in the chair is NOT one of them.  Back to work...

Oh and have I mentioned that my carpool buddy is sick as a dog -- I see at least 2 days driving alone  this week -- Karma she's a real bitch.
