And why am I at work?!? Well, two reasons, one I'm being cheap with my days off, two I plan to use this "floater" holiday next month and three, no government people -half the contractors equals one seriously quiet day... why not be at work.
OH sure -- I could have slept in, putzed about, got my house put back together, watched Season 4 of Downton Abby, loved the pup... but who needs all that enjoyment??
The peace the quiet - the contentment....
Why am I at work again?
I'll let you know when I figure it out. For now let's just call me a dork and move on with our day.
I was wonder woman this weekend in the baking department, the neighbor hosted a dinner for 8, and me being me couldn't settle for baking a chocolate cake and being satisfied with that -- no over achiever Aunt Ing has to back a chocolate cake, NOT from a mix from a real live recipe, including the fancy icing, she also baked an apple pie (pre-made crust) Please people -- and a lemon pound cake. I also made a caramel sauce with pecans and cut up strawberries to go with the pound cake.
Yes, there is something wrong with me.
The cake was a big hit - in spite of the fact the darn thing stuck to the pan like no bodies' business. Man was I ticked!! But after the first piece fell apart the rest seemed to hold together. Everyone who ate it seemed to enjoy it. Heaven knows I liked it.
I tried the pie Sunday night - not bad. Not thrilled with the caramel sauce though - will have to try a different recipe next time.
The pound cake will come into work tomorrow - Bubba will eat the strawberries.
Sunday, I made breakfast for my darling husband, then he rewarded me with a trip to the car dealership. Lucky woman aren't I? And while I would love to say that we are again a full two car family and Bubba has his new zoom-zoom auto-mo-bile (16 Candles Fans will remember that one) --- He does not.
The detailer wasn't done yet - so thankfully we have a loaner - otherwise Bubba would have been taking his beloved Lulu out in the cold. Because Aunt Ing is sick and tired of not having her car - AND having Bubba reset the seat, the mirrors and the settings on my phone/car link. MINE MINE MINE. Stop touching my stuff!!
Ahem, sorry. Apparently my inner 5 year old needed to express herself. We'll put her back in time out.
So - Bubba will pick up his car Tuesday and write the big check for said new car. I will be home. Making another dessert for work. Our 'death by chocolate' party was postponed a week due to the 1.5 FEET of snow we got last Thursday.
Tired of winter -- just stating for the record.
I am looking at cruise packages.... problem is I am facing more surgery this summer -- we're playing beat the clock with Bubba's health insurance -- and there is that whole pesky will he or won't he have a freaking job past July 1. Screw it - I'm looking up acts heading to Vegas -- me and Bubba in the sun. He can gamble I can sit by the pool and drink. Win win.
This post has lost it's way hasn't it?
*sigh*
All righty -- I guess I will go pretend to be busy - then run around like a crazy woman tonight.
